Malga Fosse Refuge

Bolzano, Italy - 2012

The unique poetry of the mountains that surround Malga Fosse and the traditions of these areas, are the main sources of inspiration for the project. The design of the building recall the typical mountain barns as the materials and the construction technique. The building consist on two volumes stack one on top of the other. A monolithic stone block at the ground floor contain a restaurant and the service areas while above a volume entirely made in timber contain the rooms and private apartments. The volume of wood, perched on its base, creates a harmony with the surrounding natural landscape and the building functions as an attraction for tourists and local residents both in summer and in winter.
